Objective To investigate the expression of aterile alpha motif domain-containing protein 4A(SAMD4A)and murine dou-bleminute 2(MDM2)in cancer tissues of elderly patients with gastric cancer,and analyze the clinical role of SAMD4A andMDM2.Methods A total of 120 elderly gastric cancer patients who underwent surgical treatment at Shanghai Pudong New Area Gongli Hospital from January 2020 to December 2021 were prospectively selected as the gastric cancer group.And 100 elderly patients with benign gastric lesions who underwent gastros-copy examination in the same hospital during the same period were selected as the control group.The positive expression of SAMD4A and MDM2 in the tissues was detected by immunohistochemistry.The positive expression of SAMD4A and MDM2 in the two groups of patients was compared.The influencing factors of positive expression of SAMD4A and MDM2 were analyzed by univariate and multivariate Logistic regression.The diagnos-tic value of positive expression of SAMD4A and MDM2 in elderly gastric cancer was evaluated by receiver operating characteristic curve(ROC).Results The positive expression rates of SAMD4A andMDM2 in gastric cancer patients were 68.33％,71.67％,which were significantly higher than those in the control group(9.00％,11.00％),the differences were statistically significant(P＜0.05).There were no statistically signifi-cant differences in the positive expression rates of SAMD4A andMDM2 among elderly gastric cancer patients of different genders,tumor diameter,pTNM staging,presence or absence of vascular cancer thrombi,and different Lauren subtypes(P＞0.05);there were statistically significant differences in the positive expression rates of SAMD4A and MDM2 among elderly gastric cancer patients of lymph node metastasis,different histo-logical grades,and depth of infiltration,and the differences were statistically significant(P＜0.05).Lymph node metastasis,histological grade and invasion depth were independent risk factors for positive expression of SAMD4A and MDM2 in gastric cancer patients(P＜0.05).The area under the curve(AUC)of SAMD4A in the diagnosis of senile gastric cancer was 0.846,the sensitivity was 87.19％,and the specificity was 79.63％.The AUC of MDM2 was 0.842,the sensitivity was 86.93％,and the specificity was 78.49％.The AUC of the combined diagnosis of SAMD4A and MDM2 was 0.913,the sensitivity was 91.62％,and the specificity was 83.59％.The indexes of combined diagnosis were higher than those of single detection,and the difference was statistically significant(P＜0.05).Conclusion In elderly gastric cancer patients,the positive expression rates of SAMD4A and MDM2 are significantly increased,which is closely related to the clinical characteristics of gastric cancer and can reflect the pathological changes of elderly gastric cancer.Detecting the expression of SAMD4A and MDM2 has certain clinical value in di-agnosing elderly gastric cancer,and the combined detection of the two has higher diagnostic value.
