Lignin Distribution in Cell Wall Region of Early and Late Wood of Populus tomentosa Carrière
In this study, the distribution of lignin in the earlywood and latewood cell wall regions of Populus tomentosa Carrière was investigated by laser scanning confocal microscopy and Raman spectroscopy. The results showed that the distribution of lignin in earlywood and latewood cell wall showed obviously uneven distributed, and the order of lignin concentration from high to low was cell corner middle lamella(CCML),compound middle lamella(CML)and secondary wall(SW).The ratio of lignin concentration ratio(early wood/latewood)were 0.76 for the inner SW,1.32 for the middle SW,1.39 for the CML and 1.45 for the CCML,which followed the pattern of SW<CML<CCML.In addition, the dissolution behavior of cell wall lignin in earlywood and latewood treated with deep eutectic solvent(DES)was investigated. The results showed that lignin removal was more significant in SW than CCML and CML region of earlywood, while the lignin removal in CCML and CML region of latewood was more significant than that in SW.
