Childhood traumatic experience of patients with mental disorders and its relationship with cultural in-telligence
Objective:To explore the childhood traumatic experience of patients with mental disorders and its correlation with cultural and intellectual level.Method:203 cases of mental disorders from depart-ment of psychiatry in the second affiliated hospital of Kunming medical university were included and evaluated by using the Self-compiled General Information Questionnaire,Childhood Trauma Questionnaire-Simplified Ver-sion(CTQ-SF),Cultural Intelligence Questionnaire(CIQ).Grouping patients based on the type of childhood trauma and comparing the association between childhood traumatic cxperience and cultural and intellectual level among the groups.Results:The total score and each factor score of the patients with childhood trauma in the neglect group and the neglect+abuse group were lower than those in the patients without childhood trauma(all P<0.05).The results of linear regression analysis showed that emotional neglect was negatively correlated with the total score of CIQ and cognitive factor score(β=-0.29,-0.25).Somatic neglect was negatively correla-ted with metacognitive factor score and behavioral factor score(β =-0.22,-0.22)in different type of child-hood trauma.Conclusion:Patients with childhood trauma experiences have lower cultural intelligence level than those without childhood trauma experiences.Emotional neglect and somatic neglect are influencing factors of the cultural intelligence in patients with mental disorders.
