The situation and influencing factors of the off-label use of antidepressants in children and adolescents
Objective:To understand the current situation of outpatient use of antidepressants in children and adolescents in a psychiatric hospital,off-label use of drugs and influencing factors.Method:The self-compiled questionnaire of clinical medication status and the outpatient electronic prescription system were used to investigate the current status of antidepressant use among children and adolescents with mental disorders,who had been treated in an outpatient clinic of a psychiatric hospital in the past 4 years.And the off-label use and in-fluencing factors were analyzed.Results:Outpatient antidepressants prescriptions for children and adolescents accountedfor2.0% of total outpatient antidepressant prescriptions,of which SSRIs accounted for84.7%.The top three antidepressant use frequencies were escitalopram(41.5%),fluvoxamine(20.8%),and sertraline(18.0%).The proportion of off-label antidepressant prescriptions for children and adolescents was 70.30%.There was no significant difference in age,physician title,disease diagnosis,and combined medication of whether off-label use(all P<0.01).The influencing factors of off-label drug used in children and adolescents included age,physician title,disease diagnosis and combined medication(Wald = 13.728,Wald = 13.332,Wald = 18.224,Wald =13.484,respectively,all P<0.01).Conclusion:The percentage of outpatient antidepressants use in children and adolescents accounts for a small proportion of the total outpatient antidepressants use,mainly SSRIs.Off-label use is common in children and adolescents,and affected by many factors.
