Narcolepsy comorbidity with schizophrenia:a case report and literature review
To improve the understanding of clinical features, diagnosis and treatment of narcolepsy co-morbidity with schizophrenia. The clinical information of a case of narcolepsy comorbidity with schizophrenia was analyzed and the related literatures were reviewed. In this case, the main clinical manifestations included exces-sive daytime sleepiness(EDS),nocturnal sleep disturbance, and typical psychotic symptoms such as hallucina-tions and delusions.Multiple sleep latency test(MSLT)showed that mean sleep latency was 1.4 min and showed 4 sleep onset rapid eye movement periods(SOREMPs).The finding was extremely consistent with the diagnosis criteria for narcolepsy comorbidity with schizophrenia, and finally this case's symptoms were relieved after pharmacotherapy.Considering the rarity of narcolepsy comorbidity with schizophrenia,it is necessary to im-prove the diagnosis awareness of this kind of disease, and to balance the advantages and disadvantages in drug use,so as to strive for the effective management of both.
