The correlation between attention impairment and childhood trauma with clinical symptoms in patients with depression
Objective:To explore the correlation between attention impairment and childhood trauma with clinical symptoms in patients with depression.Method:A total of 152 depression patients in study group and 250 healthy controls in control group were selected and assessed with the rapid visual information processing(RVP)under Cambridge neuropsychological test automated battery(CANTAB),17-item Hamilton depression rating scale(HAMD-17)and childhood trauma questionnaire-short form(CTQ-SF).Statistical analysis was carried out using SPSS 26.Results:There are more total misses, fewer total correct rejections, lower probabili-ty of hit,and longer mean latency in patients with depression(all P<0.01).The total score and each factor score of CTQ-SF in the study group were significantly higher than those of the control group(all P<0.01).In the depression group, physical neglect was positively correlated with RVP total misses(RVP_TM)(r =0.226,P =0.012),and negatively correlated with RVP A prime(RVP_A_PR),RVP total correct rejections(RVP_TCR)and RVP probability of hit(RVP_PH)(r =-0.260,-0.230,-0.224,all P<0.05).The HAMD-17 total score was positively correlated with RVP toatl missesRVP_TM、RVP probability of false alarm(RVP_PFA)、RVP_ML(r =0.228、0.192、0.341,all P<0.05),and negatively correlated with RVP B double prime(RVP_B_DP)、RVP_TCR、RVP_PH(r =-0.203,-0.324,-0.226,all P<0.05).Conclusion:People with depression might have experienced more traumatic events in childhood, and have more severely impaired at-tention.The more severe the symptoms of depression, the worse the attention will be.
