The influencing factors of suicidal behavior in outpatients with bipolar disorder
Objective:To explore the impact of clinical features of symptoms on suicidal behavior in pa-tients with bipolar disorder.Method:A total of 520 consecutive outpatients diagnosed with bipolar disorder from February 2013 to June 2014 in 7 hospitals of 6 cities in China were followed up.The general demographic and medical history of the patients were collected.The general demographic data and clinical characteristics of patients with and without suicidal attempt were compared.Poisson regression analysis was used to explore the clinical characteristics of suicidal attempt.Results:In cases with suicidal attempts,factors of suicidal attempts was associated with older age(χ2=15.01,P=0.001,OR=1.04,95%CI:1.02-1.06),non-working status(χ2=12.97,P=0.003,OR=2.81,95%CI:1.60~4.92)and the positive family history of mental illness(χ2=5.82,P=0.046,OR=1.77,95%CI:1.12-2.78).Conclusion:The number of suicidal attempts in patients with bipolar disorder was related to age,work status and positive family history of mental illness.
