Correlation study of cytokines in first-episode adolescent depression
Objective:To explore the changes of inflammatory cytokines and its relationship with clinical symptoms in the first-episode adolescent depression.Method:A total of 42 first-episode adolescents with depression treated in the Psychology Department of Binzhou Medical University Hospital from August to November 2022 and 30 healthy adolescents were enrolled in the study, the clinical symptoms of the patients were assessed by general questionnaire,Hamilton depression scale 17-item(HAMD-17),Hamilton anxiety scale(HAMA),self-rating depression scale(SDS),self-rating anxiety scale(SAS),self-rating symptom scale(SCL-90)and adolescent life events questionnaire(ASLEC).ELISA was used to detect the levels of inflammatory cytokines and cortisol in depressed patients and controls. Results:The level of TNF-α in patients with suicidal ideation was higher than that in patients without suicidal ideation, and the differences were statistically significant(t=2.219,P=0.034).The level of TNF-α was positively correlated with the scores of SDS,SAS and SCL-90(r=0.465、0.374、0.369,All P<0.05).The level of TNF-α was positively correlated with the learning stress factor and punishment factor of ASLEC scale scores(r=0.465、0.374、0.369,All P<0.05).Conclusion:The level of TNF-α is different in patients with or without suicidal ideation.TNF-α may be a biological predictor of suicidal ideation, subjective symptoms and learning stress.in adolescents with depression.
