Analysis of the characteristics of outpatient treatment for elderly patients in psychiatric emergency department
Objective:To understand the medical characteristics of elderly patients in psychiatric emergency department.Method:A retrospective survey was conducted on the general information and treatment status of elderly patients who received emergency treatment in the psychiatric department of Nanjing Brain Hospital from August 1,2022 to October 31,2022.Results:There were 224 elderly patients seeking emergency treatment in the psychiatric department,with an average age of(71.33±8.62)years;All research subjects were devided into a younger age group(60-75 years old)and an older age group(≥75 years old).The proportion of mood disorders,schizophrenia or other primary psychotic disorders,and sleep-wake rhythm disorders was higher in the young elderly group,and the proportion of neurocognitive disorders and dementia was higher in the elderly group(x2=52.291,P<0.001);the proportion of antipsychotic drugs used by the elderly group is higher than that of the younger group,and the proportion of sedative and hypnotic drugs used by the younger group is higher than that of the elderly group,with a significant difference(x2=4.500,P=0.034).The proportion of elderly people with chronic physical diseases is significantly higher than that of the younger elderly group(x2=7.741,P=0.005).Conclusion:Elderly psychiatric emergency patients of different ages have different clinical characteristics.It is necessary to pay attention to the condition of physical diseases,comprehensive assessment and diagnosis and treatment;it is also necessary to pay more attention to and research the construction of psychiatric emergency medicine.
