Mental disorders such as depression,bipolar disorder and schizophrenia have become major mental health problems worldwide.Autophagy is a lysosomal dependent protein degradation pathway that plays an important role in neuronal survival and synaptic plasticity.Autophagy is involved in a variety of neurological diseases,such as Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease.At present,there are few reports on the relationship between autophagy and mental disorders.This paper reviews the role of autophagy in the occurrence and development of mental disorders.
