Cutaneous nodular amelanotic melanoma:a case report
A case of cutaneous nodular amelanotic melanoma is reported.A 66-year-old female presented with a nodule on the flexor side of the left calf for nine months.The patient had undergone surgical resection in an outside hospital,and the tu-mor recurred two months after the operation.Physical examination showed more than 20 red papules and nodules in miliary or peanut sizes on the flexion side of the left calf,with smooth surface and no ulceration.Histopathological examination revealed that the epidermis was roughly normal,the proliferative tumor cells were clumpy and nodular in the dermis,and some cells were atypical.Immunohistochemical showed the tumor cells were positive for S-100 protein,Melan-A and vimentin;and the tumor cells were negitive for SMA,Fli-1 and HMB45.A diagnosis of cutaneous nodular amelanotic melanoma was made.
