A case of toxic epidermal necrolysis-like systemic contact dermatitis following exposure to pyridaben insecticide
A case of toxic epidermal necrolysis-like systemic contact dermatitis is reported.A 70-year-old male presented with erythema,blisters and erosions all over the body for four weeks.Prior to onset,he reported a history of pyridaben insecticide contact and denied the history of medications.Dermatological examination revealed erosions over the face,trunk,and extrem-ities with a rosy base and scald-like appearance.Nikolsky sign was positive,and 75%of body surface area was affected.Histopatho-logical examination of the abdominal skin lesion showed detachment of partial epidermis,focal liquefaction of basal cells and a slightly dense infiltration of lymphocyte-dominated mononuclear inflammatory cells around the tubules of small blood vessels in the mid-superior dermis.A diagnosis was made as toxic epidermal necrolysis-like systemic contact dermatitis.
