Objective To provide clinical basis for the diagnosis and treatment of patients with traumatic brain injury(TBI),enabling early prognosis judgments, reducing complications and mortality rates. Methods The clinical data of 2 115 patients with TBI admitted to the Department of Neurosurgery,Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region People's Hospital from January 2018 to December 2022 were analyzed retrospectively. The study mainly collected demographic characteristics of the patients, including age, gender, occupation, distribution of hospitalization time,Glasgow coma scale(GCS)upon admission, cause of injury, treatment methods, and Glasgow outcome scale(GOS)upon discharge. Results Of the 2 115 patients with TBI,72.86%were male and 27.14%were female. There were more male patients than female patients across all age groups, with a statistically significant difference(P<0.05).Farmers were the occupation with the most brain injuries. The primary cause of injury was traffic accident(44.07%),followed by fall related injury(28.18%).According to the analysis of hospitalization months,June to October was the peak period of brain injury occurrence. Conclusions TBI incidence in Hohhot exhibits certain patterns across age, gender, cause of injury, and temporal distribution.Corresponding prevention and intervention measures should be taken according to different age groups, occupational characteristics, and peak periods of brain injury occurrence,in order to reduce the incidence and mortality rate of brain injury in Hohhot, improve the efficiency and level of treatment for traumatic brain injury.
