Correlation of psychological resilience with the sense of coherence and meaning in life in patients with colorectal cancer
Objective To explore the correlations of psychological resilience with the sense of coherence and meaning in life in patients with colorectal cancer.Methods Assessments and analyses were performed using general information questionnaire,the Stress Resilience Quotient Scale(SRQS),Sense of Coherence Scale(SOC)and Meaning in Life Questionnaie(MLQ)in 100 colorectal cancer patients,the correlations of psychological resilience with the sense of coherence and meaning in life explored using Spearman's rank correlation analysis and multiple linear regression analysis.Results A total of 100 questionnaires were distributed,96 valid collected,and valid collection rate was 96.00%.The score on the SRQS was(55.30±12.81),SOC(51.20±10.13),and MLQ(41.79±7.33)in 96 colorectal cancer patients.The total and each dimension score of the SRQS were positively associated with the total and each dimension score of both SOC and MLQ in colorectal cancer patients(P<0.05),so were the total and each dimension score of the SOC with the total and each dimension score of the MLQ(P<0.05).Factors influencing psychological resilience of colorectal cancer patients were educational level,monthly household income,religious belief,stoma or not,clinicopathologic staging,sense of coherence and meaning in life(P<0.05 or 0.01).Conclusion The psychological resilience of colorectal cancer patients is associated with the sense of coherence and life meaning.Clinically,psychological states should also be concerned in addition to providing high-quality medical service,patients'psychological resilience,the sense of coherence and life meaning be improved in order to raise quality of life and achieve comprehensive psychosomatic rehabilitation.
