Effect of individualized psychological intervention on mental state and sleep quality of patients undergoing thyroid cancer surgery
Objective To explore the effect of individualized psychological intervention(IPI)plus progressive muscle relaxation training(PMRT)on mental state and sleep quality of patients undergoing thyroid cancer surgery. Methods Eighty-two patients undergoing thyroid cancer surgery from Feb.to Nov.2023 were randomly divided into control and observation group, with 41 ones in each.Controls received the PMRT and observation group did the IPI on the basis of controls.Mental state, psychological resilience, sleep quality and quality of life were assessed for both groups using the Huaxi Emotional-distress Index(HEI),Revised Piper Fatigue Scale(PFS-R),Chinese version of Fear of Cancer Recurrence Inventory(FCRI-C),Chinese version of the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale(CD-RISC),Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI)and Spitzer Quality of Life Index(SQLI)before intervention and after 30 day intervention. Results After 30 day intervention,HEI,PFS-R and FCRI-C scores as well as each dimension scores of the PSQI in both groups lowered compared with pre-intervention and those were lower in observation than control group;each dimension scores of the CD-RISC and each item scores of the SQLI in both groups elevated compared with pre-intervention and those were higher in observation than control group(P<0.05 or 0.01).Conclusion The IPI plus PMRT is effective in patients undergoing thyroid cancer surgery and worthy of clinical promotion.
