Significance of the Expression Levels of GPC-3 and AUF1 in Cancer Tissue in the Evaluation of Pathological Stage and Prognosis of Patients with Esophageal Cancer
Objective To investigate the significance of the expression levels of Glypican-3(GPC-3)and AU base-enriching element RNA binding factor 1(AUF1)in the pathological stage and prognosis of patients with esophageal cancer. Methods A total of 118 patients with esophageal cancer treated from November 2017 to November 2019 were selected as the research subjects, and cancerous tissues(esophageal cancer group)and corresponding para-cancerous tissues(para-cancer group)were collected.Immunohistochemistry was used to detect the expression levels of GPC-3 and AUF1 in cancerous and para-cancerous tissues, and the relationship between the expressions of GPC-3 and AUF1 and the clinicopathological features of patients with esophageal cancer was analyzed.Multivariate Cox regression was used to explore the risk factors affecting the prognosis of patients with esophageal cancer. Results The positive expression rates of GPC-3 and AUF1 in esophageal cancer group(76.27%,74.58%)were higher than those in para-cancerous group(38.98%,41.53%)(P<0.01).The positive expression rates of GPC-3 and AUF1 in patients with low differentiation,TNM stage Ⅲ-Ⅳ and lymph node metastasis were higher than those in patients with moderate/high differentiation,TNM stageⅠ-Ⅱand no lymph node metastasis,respectively(P<0.05,P<0.01).The 3-year survival rate of patients with GPC-3-positive expression was 63.33%,which was lower than 89.29%of patients with GPC-3-negative expression(P<0.01).The 3-year survival rate of patients with AUF1-positive expression was 62.50%,which was lower than 90.00%of patients with AUF1-negative expression(P<0.01).TNM stageⅢ-Ⅳ,lymph node metastasis, positive expression of GPC-3 and positive expression of AUF1 were independent risk factors for the prognosis of patients with esophageal cancer(P<0.01).Conclusion Both GPC-3 and AUF1 are highly expressed in esophageal cancer tissues, and are related to clinicopathological features and prognosis, which can be used as biological mark-ers for prognosis evaluation of esophageal cancer.
