Objective To investigate the value of conical beam CT in orthodontic treatment of patients with classⅠ-Ⅲ malocclusion. Methods From July 2022 to July 2023,76 patients with malocclusion were selected, and examined by curved body X-ray and conical beam CT respectively.Subsequently, orthodontic treatment was given according to the results, and conical beam CT was performed again.X-ray examination results were used as the gold standard to compare the accuracy of the two methods in diagnosing root resorption and the change of root volume before and after treatment. Results The total accuracy of cone beam CT in the diagnosis of tooth root absorption was 88.16%(67/76),which was higher than that[57.89%(44/76)]of curved body X-ray examination(P<0.05).Compared with those before treatment, the volume of the right upper middle, right lower middle, right upper middle, right lower middle incisor, left upper middle, left lower middle incisor, left upper middle, and left lower middle incisor were smaller after treatment(P<0.05).Conclusion There is a high probability of root resorption in patients with class I~III malocclusion after orthodontic treatment.Cone beam CT has the characteristics of simple operation and high accuracy, which can clearly and effectively display the degree of tooth root absorp-tion and volume change,as a rapid, effective and safe diagnostic method.
