Atrial fibrillation is a common type of rapid arrhythmia that can significantly increase the risk of death, stroke, heart failure, cognitive impairment, and dementia in patients.Currently, the treatment of atrial fi-brillation mainly focuses on anticoagulation to prevent embolic events and rhythm control to improve symptoms, but the efficacy is limited. In recent years,an increasing number of studies have confirmed that ferroptosis can participate in the occurrence of atrial fibrillation and promote its progression. This article will review the relation-ship between ferroptosis and atrial fibrillation to provide new insights into the pathogenesis of atrial fibrillation.
