Abnormal expression and molecular mechanism of Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway in scleritis
Objective To investigate the abnormal expression and molecular mechanism of Wnt/β-catenin signal-ing pathway in scleritis. Methods A prospective case-control study.60 patients with scleritis were selected as the case group in our hospital from January 2023 to June 2023,and 60 healthy physical examination personnel during the same pe-riod were selected as the control group. The levels of β-catenin,low density lipoprotein receptor-associated protein 6(LRP6),interleukin 1β(IL-1β),interleukin 22(IL-22),tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)and matrix metalloproteinase 9(MMP-9)in tears were determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).The correlation between clinical inflammatory activity score and the expression level of immune inflammatory factors was analyzed. Results The levels of β-catenin and LRP6 in the case group were significantly higher than in the control group(P<0.05).The levels of IL-1β,IL-22,TNF-α and MMP-9 in the case group were significantly higher than in the control group(P<0.05).There was no correlation between the levels of IL-1β and TNF-α in tears and the scores of clinical inflammatory activity in scleritis pa-tients(P>0.05).The levels of IL-22 and MMP-9 in scleritis patients were positively correlated with the scores of clinical inflammatory activity(P<0.05).Conclusions The cytokines related to the Wnt/β-catenin signaling pathway were over expressed in patients with scleritis, and the levels of IL-22 and MMP-9 were correlated with inflammatory activity.
