Due to the unique anatomy and physiological barrier function of the eye, there are huge challenges in effective ocular drug delivery. The current traditional non-invasive and invasive treatments have low bioavailability and some are accompanied by serious adverse reactions.Nanotechnology in nano-ophthalmology is in the early stages of clinical application.Nanoscale materials will provide more sites for synthetic reactions at a given size per unit.Nanotechnology has the potential to improve drug bioavailability by overcoming ocular physiological anatomical barriers. The degree and failure rate of surgical interventions, and enhancing existing diagnostic screening tools. This review focuses on the related at-tempts and progress of nanotechnology in the diagnosis and treatment of ocular diseases. The progress described in this ar-ticle may pave the way for new and highly effective ophthalmic nanomedicines.
