Meta-analysis of effect and safety of traditional Chinese medicine and mycophenolate mofeti in the treatment of proliferative lupus nephritis
Objective To assess the effect and safety of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)and mycophenolate mofeti(MMF)in the treatment of proliferative lupus nephritis(PLN).Methods Randomized controlled trials(RCT)literature of PLN treatment in Cochrane library,PubMed,China Biomedical Literature Database,CNKI and VIP full-text database were searched from the database establishment to June 30,2022.Data extraction and quality evaluation were carried out by two systematic reviewers. The methodological quality of the included literature was evaluated using Jadad scale, and Meta-analysis was performed using RevMan5.4 software. Results Nine RCT literature that met the criteria were included. The results of Meta-analysis showed that there were statistically significant differences in 24 h urinary protein(MD=-0.47,95%CI:-0.71--0.24),serum creatinine(SCr)(MD=-16.70,95%CI:-29.48--3.91),Systemic Lupus Erythematosus Disease Activity Index(SLEDAI)score(MD=-3.27,95%CI:-4.31--2.23),albumin(Alb)(MD=5.59,95%CI:4.59-6.60),TCM syndrome score(MD=-3.35,95%CI:-4.44--2.26),complement C3(MD=0.28,95%CI:0.15-0.41)and incidence of infection(OR=0.23,95%CI:0.10-0.56)and total adverse reactions(OR=0.17,95%CI:0.08-0.35)between the TCM combined with MMF group and the western medicine group(P<0.05);there were no significant differences in the incidences of nausea and vomiting(OR=0.19,95%CI:0.03-1.10),leukopenia(OR=0.27,95%CI:0.07-1.03)and liver dysfunction(OR=0.65,95%CI:0.11-4.07)between the TCM combined with MMF group and the western medicine group(P>0.05).Conclusion TCM combined with MMF can alleviate clinical symptoms and reduce the incidence of adverse reactions in PLN.
