Analysis of risk factors for carotid plaque formation in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus
Objective To explore the risk factors for carotid plaque formation in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods The medical records of 432 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus who were treated in the People's Hospital Affiliated to Chongqing Three Gorges Medical College from January to December 2021 were retrospectively analyzed, and the patients were divided into carotid plaque group and non-carotid plaque group according to the results of carotid ultrasound examination. The general data of the two groups were compared;Logistic regression was used to analyze the risk factors of carotid plaque formation in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Results Among the 432 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus,330 were in the carotid plaque group and 102 were in the non-carotid plaque group, and the incidence of carotid plaque was 76.39%.The age, white blood cell count and cholesterol level in the carotid plaque group were significantly higher than those in the non-carotid plaque group(P<0.05).Logistic regression analysis showed that age and white blood cell count were independent risk factors for carotid plaque formation in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(P<0.05).Conclusion Age and white blood cell count are independent risk factors for carotid plaque formation in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. The older the age,the higher the white blood cell count, the higher the risk of carotid plaque in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
