Effect of double plate internal fixation through olecranon osteotomy approach in the treatment of AO-C type distal humeral fracture and its influences on the elbow and shoulder joint function and recovery of muscle strength
Objective To investigate the clinic effect of double plate internal fixation through olecranon osteotomy approach in the treatment of AO-C type distal humeral fracture. Methods A total of 90 patients with AO-C type distal humeral fracture admitted in our hospital from May 2019 to May 2021 were selected and divided into control group and observation group by digital random method, with 45 cases in each group. The control group was treated with double plate internal fixation through triceps brachii bilateral approach, while the observation group was treated with double plate internal fixation through olecranon osteotomy approach. The therapeutic effects of the two groups were compared. Results The excellent and good rate of treatment in the observation group was higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).At 3 months after operation, the scores of Mayo Elbow Performance Score(MEPS)and Neer in the observation group were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).At 3 months after operation, the peak torque(PT)of elbow flexion and extension at 60° in the observation group were greater than those in the control group, and the time to peak torque(TPT)of elbow flexion and extension at 180°were shorter than those in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Double plate internal fixation through olecranon osteotomy approach in the treatment of AO-C type distal humeral fracture can improve the effect, and effectively promote the improvement of elbow and shoulder joint function and the recovery of muscle strength.
