CT and MRI imaging characteristics and pathological comparison of colorectal schwannoma
Objective To investigate the CT and MRI imaging characteristics of colorectal schwannoma. Methods The clinical data and imaging data of 4 patients with colorectal schwannoma confirmed by histopathology were retrospectively collected, and the CT and MRI imaging features were analyzed in combination with the literature. Results All 4 cases of colorectal schwannoma occurred in females, with an average age of 61 years old.The lesions of 2 cases were located in the ascending colon ileocecal region, and the lesions of 2 cases were located in the lower rectum. All 4 cases had changes in stool habits and traits. All of the 4 lesions were round-like masses on CT,which were connected with the intestinal wall with a wide base and caused eccentric stenosis of the intestinal cavity. The plain scan density was uneven, and small patchy low-density areas could be found. The CT enhanced scanning showed all of 4 cases were unevenly enhanced,of which 2 cases had lymph node enlargement and 1 case had metastasis.MRI of 1 case showed isointense signal on T1-weighted imaging(T1WI)and heterogeneous high density on T2-weighted imaging(T2WI),and moderate heterogeneous enhancement after enhancement.Colonoscopy showed that 3 cases had smooth surface and complete capsule, and 1 case had multiple ulcers on the surface and was malignant. Conclusion Colorectal schwannoma is more common in middle-aged and elderly women, and its CT and MRI imaging manifestations have certain characteristics.
