Progress in the study of neurofilament light chain protein in plasma and cerebrospinal fluid on movement and cognitive dysfunction in Parkinson's disease
Neurofilament light chain protein(NfL)is a neuron specific component of the cytoskeleton, which is important for the branching and growth of dendrites in central and peripheral nerves, the stability of axon, and axonal regeneration after trauma.Axon damage leads to the release of NfL into the extracellular space. Therefore, cerebrospinal fluid(CSF)or blood NfL is considered to be a biomarker of axon damage and neurodegeneration in a range of neurological diseases.Parkinson's disease(PD)is a chronic progressive disease, and the quality of life and clinical outcomes of patients with severe movement and cognitive dysfunction are wrose.Recent clinical studies have shown that there may be a correlation between NfL and the occurrence and development of PD,but the specific relationship between NfL and movement and cognitive dysfunction in patients with PD and its prognostic value are not fully clear,so this article provides a review on this.
