Clinical effect of electroacupuncture combined with intramuscular injection of botulinum toxin A in the treatment of children with spastic cerebral palsy and its influence on gross motor function
Objective To observe the clinical effect of electroacupuncture combined with intramuscular injection of botulinum toxin A in the treatment of children with spastic cerebral palsy and its influence on gross motor function. Methods Ninety-six children with spastic cerebral palsy admitted in our hospital from July 2021 to November 2023 were selected as the study objects and divided into control group and observation group according to random number table method, with 48 cases in each group. The control group was treated with intramuscular injection of botulinum toxin A and routine rehabilitation training, and the observation group was treated with electroacupuncture on the basis of the control group. The therapeutic effects of the two groups were compared. Results After treatment, the Modified Ashworth Spasticity Scale(MAS)score, dorsiflexion angle of foot and 88 Items Version of Gross Motor Function Measure(GMFM-88)score in both groups were better than those before treatment(P<0.05);after treatment, there were no significant differences in the MAS score and dorsiflexion angle of foot between the two groups(P>0.05),but the GMFM-88 score in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Electroacupuncture combined with intramuscular injection of botulinum toxin A is effective in the treatment of children with spastic cerebral palsy,it can rapidly reduce limb muscle tension, improve tiptoe and gross motor function, which is worthy of clinical promotion and application.
