Study on correlation between head nurse empowerment behavior and thriving at work of clinical nurses
Objective To understand the current status of head nurse empowerment behavior,and to investigate the correlation between head nurse empowerment behavior and thriving at work of clinical nurses.Methods A total of 373 clinical nurses from 4 grade A hospitals in Qingdao were selected as the research objects.General data questionnaire,head nurse empowerment behavior scale and thriving at work scale were used to investigate the clinical nurses.Results The score of head nurse empowerment behavior scale was(185.48±36.23),and the score of thriving at work scale of clinical nurses was(36.12±5.78).The scores of thriving at work scale of clinical nurses and its two dimensions were positively correlated with the scores of head nurse empowerment behavior scale and its five dimensions(P<0.01).Stepwise regression analysis showed that the enhanced job meaning dimension of the head nurse empowerment behavior scale was an influential factor for the thriving at work of clinical nurses(P<0.001).Conclusion The head nurse empowerment behavior has a direct predictive effect on the thriving at work of clinical nurses.Hospital managers should pay attention to cultivating the empowering management style of nursing managers in daily work and creating a positive working atmosphere to stimulate nurses'learning and vitality in clinical work.
