Objective To investigate the depression status and traditional Chinese medicine constitution types of higher vocational college students,to explore the correlation between traditional Chinese medicine constitution and depressive symptoms,to predict the dangerous constitution types of depression, and to provide theoretical basis for preventing the occurrence of depression. Methods Using the method of cross-sectional study,532 valid questionnaires were obtained from higher vocational college students, and the depression status and traditional Chinese medicine constitution types were evaluated using the Self-Rating Depression Scale(SDS)and the traditional Chinese medicine constitution scale.Spearman correlation analysis and regression analysis were used to analyze the influence of physical factors on depressive symptoms. Results Among the 532 higher vocational college students who participated in the questionnaire survey, the prevalence of depression was as high as 40.60%,with mild depression being the most common. There was a highly significant positive correlation between no depression and gentleness(r=0.305,P<0.01),and the correlation coefficient was the largest;there was a highly significant negative correlation between severe depression and gentleness(r=-0.269,P<0.01);there was a highly significant positive correlation between severe depression and Yin deficiency, blood stasis and Qi depression(r=0.194,0.125,0.085,P<0.01).The traditional Chinese medicine constitutions with positive and large 95%confidence interval for relative risk of depressive symptoms were Qi depression(2.497),Qi deficiency(2.436),Yang deficiency(2.284)and Yin deficiency(2.181).The larger partial regression coefficients were Qi depression(0.059),Qi deficiency(0.052)and Yang deficiency(0.037).Conclusion Qi depression,Qi deficiency,Yang deficiency and Yin deficiency may be the risk factors of depressive symptoms. When the constitution is Qi depression,Qi deficiency and Yang deficiency, the degree of depression is more serious.
