Investigation on mental health status of community residents in Beijing
Objective To investigate the mental health status of residents in a community in Beijing.Methods Using cluster random sampling method,486 patients and their families over the age of 20 were selected as the research subjects.The Hamilton Rating Scale for Depression(HRSD)and Hamilton Anxiety Scale(HAMA)were used to investigate the occurrence of depression and anxiety of the subjects.Logistic regression was used to analyze the factors affecting depression and anxiety.Results The detection rate of depression was 13.79%,and the detection rate of anxiety was 19.75%;there were 40 people(8.23%)with both depression and anxiety;the incidence of anxiety was greater than that of depression(P<0.05).There were no significant differences in the incidence of depression and anxiety among different age groups(P>0.05).Gender and physical condition were the main factors affecting the occurrence of depression(P<0.05).Gender,living conditions,physical conditions,working conditions and eating habits were the main factors affecting the occurrence of anxiety(P<0.05).The overall demand for mental health services was 89.71%(436/486);there was a statistically significant difference in the demand for mental health services among different age groups(P<0.05).Conclusion Residents in a community in Beijing have mental health problems such as depression and anxiety,this problem should be paid attention to by community doctors and timely psychological counseling should be given to ensure the physical and mental health of residents.
