Effect of low temperature plasma ablation combined with adenoidectomy on children with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome and its influence on postoperative quality of life
Objective To investigate the effect of low temperature plasma ablation combined with adenoidectomy on children with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome and its influence on postoperative quality of life. Methods A total of 120 children with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome admitted in our hospital from January 2021 to January 2022 were selected and divided into control group and observation group by random number table method, with 60 cases in each group. The control group was treated with conventional tonsillectomy, and the observation group was treated with low temperature plasma ablation combined with adenoidectomy. The therapeutic effects of the two groups were compared. Results The total effective rate of treatment in the observation group was 96.67%,which was higher than 86.67%in the control group(P<0.05).After treatment, the nocturnal lowest oxygen saturation[LSa(O2)]in the two groups was higher than that before treatment, and the oxygen desaturation index(ODI)and apnea hypopnea index(AHI)were lower than those before treatment, and those in the observation group were better than the control group(P<0.05).After treatment, the levels of malondialdehyde(MDA)and 3-nitrotyrosine(3-NT)in the observation group were lower than those in the control group, and the levels of superoxide dismutase(SOD)and reduced glutathione(GSH)were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).At 15,30 and 60 d after treatment, the score of Disease Specific Quality of Life for Children with Obstructive Sleep Apnea 18 Items Survey(OSA-18)in the two groups was lower than that before treatment(P<0.05);at 15 and 30 d after treatment, the OSA-18 score of the observation group was lower than that of the control group(P<0.05);at 60 d after treatment, there was no significant difference in OSA-18 score between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion Low temperature plasma ablation combined with adenoidectomy is effective in the treatment of children with obstructive sleep apnea syndrome,it can improve ventilation function, reduce oxidative stress response, and ultimately improve the quality of life, which is worthy of application and promotion.
