Objective To explore the application value of ultrasound-guided catheter drainage combined with laparoscopic appendectomy(LA)in suppurative appendicitis. Methods The clinical data of 37 patients with suppurative appendicitis admitted in the Affiliated Huai'an Hospital of Xuzhou Medical University from January 2019 to July 2023 were retrospectively analyzed. All patients underwent ultrasound-guided catheter drainage, and LA was performed after the pus cavity disappeared and acute inflammation relieved. Results All 37 patients were successfully underwent ultrasound-guided catheter and drainage. The disappearance time of pus cavity was(2.95±0.82)d,the disappearance time of abdominal pain was(5.30±0.52)d,the time for body temperature to return to normal was(4.25±1.20)d,the time for white blood cells count to return to normal was(7.24±0.43)d,the time of catheterization was(7.27±0.96)d,the total drainage volume during catheterization was(96.76±21.06)mL,the operation time of LA was(45.54±6.10)min,and the amount of bleeding was(23.68±6.66)mL.Three patients were converted to open surgery due to severe adhesion around the appendix. No serious complications such as massive hemorrhage and intestinal injury occurred in all patients. Conclusion Ultrasound-guided catheter drainage combined with LA in the treatment of suppurative appendicitis has the advantages of less trauma, high safety factor and less complications, which is worthy of clinical promotion and application.
