Research progress on conservative treatment for coxisting tinnitus in temporomandibular disorder
The coexistence of temporomandibular disorder(TMD)and tinnitus have been frequently reported in the literature. However, there is still no standard treatment guidelines or strategy. The purpose of this paper is to review the relevant literature on the effect of conservative treatment on coexisting tinnitus in TMD and to summarize the latest research progress,so as to provide some references for clinical diagnosis and treatment.A total of 24 studies were identified in this review, involving three categories of TMD-related conservative treatment, including occlusal splint treatment, physical therapy and multidisciplinary comprehensive treatment.Conservative treatment of TMD may be an effective way to improve tinnitus caused by TMD.However, the exact effect of these treatments needs to be further confirmed by well-designed randomized controlled trials.
