Effects of internal heat acupuncture and shock wave at lumbar iliac trigger point in the treatment of lumbar abdominal pain
Objective To observe the effects of internal heat acupuncture and shock wave at lumbar iliac trigger point in the treatment of lumbar abdominal pain. Methods Fifty patients with lumbar abdominal pain were selected and randomly divided into observation group and control group, with 25 cases in each group. The observation group was treated with internal heat acupuncture at lumbar iliac trigger point, and the control group was treated with shock wave at lumbar iliac trigger point. The therapeutic effects of the two groups were compared. Results At the end of treatment and 3 and 6 months after treatment, the Visual Analog Scale(VAS)score of the observation group was lower than that before treatment(P<0.05);at the end of treatment, the VAS score of the control group was lower than that before treatment(P<0.05);at 3 and 6 months after treatment, the VAS score of the observation group was lower than that of the control group(P<0.05).At 3 months after treatment, the scores of each dimension of Medical Outcomes Study 36-Item Short-Form Health Survey(SF-36)in the two groups were significantly higher than those before treatment(P<0.05);at 3 months after treatment, the scores of physical pain, vitality and social function in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).The total effective rate of treatment in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).No adverse reactions occurred in the two groups of patients during the treatment, and no analgesic drugs were taken. Conclusion Both internal heat acupuncture and shock wave at lumbar iliac trigger point can effectively relieve pain in the short term, but the former has better long-term efficacy than the latter in the treatment of lumbar abdominal pain.
