Clinical effects of different acupuncture methods combined with western medicine in the treatment of cervical spondylosis of vertebral artery type and its influences on vertebral basilar artery blood flow velocity and quality of life of patients
Objective To investigate the clinical effects of different acupuncture methods combined with western medicine in the treatment of cervical spondylosis of vertebral artery type(CSA)and its influences on vertebral basilar artery blood flow velocity and quality of life of patients. Methods A total of 120 CSA patients admitted from December 2018 to November 2020 were selected as the study objects and divided into control group and study group according to different treatment plans, with 60 cases in each group. Both groups were given oral treatment with flunarizine hydrochloride capsules. On this basis, the control group was given routine acupoint acupuncture at the neck and shoulder areas, while the study group was given acupoint acupuncture at the neck and shoulder areas and the posterior occipital triangle area. The treatment effects of two groups of patients were compared. Results The total effective rate of treatment in the study group was higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).After treatment, the scores of various dimensions of the Evaluation Scale for Cervicalvertigo(ESCV)and total score of both groups were higher than those before treatment, and those in the study group were higher than the control group(P<0.05).After treatment, the vertebral basilar artery peak systolic blood flow velocity(Vp)and peak end diastolic blood flow velocity(Vd)in both groups were higher than those before treatment, and those in the study group were higher than the control group(P<0.05).After treatment, the scores of each dimension of the World Health Organization Quality of Life Assessment Instrument Brief Version(WHOQOL-BREF)in both groups were higher than those before treatment, and those in the study group were higher than the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Acupuncture at the neck and shoulder areas and the posterior occipital triangle area combined with western medicine is significantly effective in treating CSA,it is more conducive to alleviating clinical symptoms, improving vertebral basilar artery blood flow velocity, and ultimately improving quality of life of patients, which is worthy of clinical promotion.
