Diagnostic value of fecal calprotectin combined with albumin in elderly patients with colonic polyps
Objective To investigate the diagnostic value of fecal calprotectin(FC)combined with albumin in elderly patients with colonic polyps. Methods The clinical data of 200 patients(polyp group)diagnosed with colonic polyps by endoscopy in the spleen and stomach department of Pukou Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine from December 2022 to December 2023 were retrospectively analyzed. In addition,200 patients without colonic polyps who underwent endoscopy during the same period were selected as control group. The basic data and biochemical indexes of the two groups were recorded, and the FC level was detected. The binary Logistic regression model was used to analyze the influencing factors of colonic polyps. The receiver operating characteristic(ROC)curve was drawn to analyze the diagnostic efficacy of FC combined with albumin for colonic polyps. Results There were no significant differences in age, gender, white blood cell count(WBC)and C-reactive protein(CRP)levels between the two groups(P>0.05);the proportion of diarrhea,FC and neutrophile granulocyte(Neu)in the polyp group were higher than those in the control group, and the levels of hemoglobin and albumin were lower than those in the control group, the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The results of binary Logistic regression analysis showed that FC,hemoglobin and albumin were independent influencing factors of colonic polyp formation(P<0.05).ROC curve results showed that FC,hemoglobin and albumin had certain diagnostic value for colonic polyps. The ROC areas under curve(AUC)of FC in the diagnosis of colonic polyps was 0.853,which was better than that of albumin(AUC=0.754)and hemoglobin(AUC=0.788).FC combined with albumin had the highest diagnostic efficiency for colonic polyps(AUC=0.909),the diagnostic sensitivity was 88.00%and the specificity was 81.00%.Conclusion FC combined with albumin has a high diagnostic value for early screening of elderly patients with colonic polyps. It is simple,non-invasive,sensitive and easy to accept, and can be used as a routine screening method for colonic polyps in the elderly.
