Study on HPV infection status and prognosis of patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma in Baoji area
Objective To investigate the infection of human papillomavirus(HPV)in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma in Baoji area,and to analyze the relationship between HPV infection and prognosis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma.Methods A total of 59 patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma diagnosed by pathological examination in Baoji Central Hospital from July 2011 to December 2022 were collected as the research objects.HPV infection was detected by p16 protein Envision method;the positive expression of p16 protein in nasopharyngeal carcinoma specimens was analyzed;the clinical characteristics and survival of patients with positive and negative p16 protein were compared.Results In 59 cases of nasopharyngeal carcinoma specimens,30 cases of p16 protein expression was positive,the positive rate was 50.8%.There were no significant differences in gender,age,smoking and drinking,T stage,N stage and pathological type between p16 protein positive and negative patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma(P>0.05).The 3-year overall survival(OS)of p16 protein positive and negative patients were 86.0%and 68.7%,respectively,and the 5-year OS were 81.2%and 58.9%,respectively,the OS of p16 protein positive patients was slightly higher than that of negative patients,but the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05);the 3-year disease free survival(DFS)of p16 protein positive and negative patients were 81.5%and 55.1%,respectively,the DFS of p16 protein positive patients was higher than that of negative patients(P<0.05).Conclusion The infection rate of HPV in Baoji area is low,and the survival time of HPV positive patients is longer than that of HPV negative patients.
