Effects of photodynamic therapy assisted periodontal orthodontic treatment on symptom improvement, inflammatory response and periodontal flora in patients with periodontitis
Objective To analyze the effects of photodynamic therapy(PDT)assisted periodontal orthodontic treatment on symptom improvement, inflammatory response and periodontal flora in patients with periodontitis. Methods A total of 100 patients with periodontitis who underwent periodontal orthodontic treatment in our hospital from January to December 2021 were included in this study. The patients were divided into orthodontic group and PDT group according to the difference of periodontal orthodontic adjuvant treatment plans, with 50 cases in each group. The orthodontic group was given routine adjuvant therapy of periodontal orthodontics, and the PDT group was given PDT adjuvant therapy on the basis of the orthodontic group. The therapeutic effects of the two groups were compared. Results The total effective rate of treatment in the PDT group was higher than that in the orthodontic group(P<0.05).After treatment, the gingival index(GI),probing depth(PD),plaque index(PLI)and attachment loss(AL)in the PDT group were significantly lower than those in the orthodontic group(P<0.05).After treatment, the levels of monocyte chemoattractant protein-1(MCP-1),soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-1(sICAM-1)and matrix metalloprotein-9(MMP-9)in the PDT group were lower than those in the orthodontic group, and the level of α-hydroxybutyricacid dehydrogenase(HBD)was higher than that in the orthodontic group(P<0.05).After treatment, the number of Porphyromonas gingivalis,Bacteroides intermedia and Clostridium necrosis in the PDT group were lower than those in the orthodontic group(P<0.05).Conclusion PDT assisted periodontal orthodontic treatment can achieve ideal results in patients with periodontitis.
