Analysis of serum HMGB1 expression level in patients with spinal fracture and spinal cord injury and the influencing factors of postoperative quality of life
Objective To observe the serum high-mobility group box 1(HMGB1)expression level in patients with spinal fracture and spinal cord injury, and to analyze the influencing factors of postoperative quality of life. Methods Ninety patients with spinal fracture and spinal cord injury admitted from December 2020 to June 2022 were selected as injury group, and 65 patients with simple spinal fracture were selected as non-injury group. The levels of serum HMGB1 and S100 calcium-binding protein B(S100B)were compared between the two groups;the levels of serum HMGB1 and S100B in patients with different American Spinal Injury Association(ASIA)grades in the injury group were compared;the diagnostic efficacy of serum HMGB1 and S100B in spinal fracture and spinal cord injury were analyzed;the influencing factors of postoperative quality of life in patients with spinal fracture and spinal cord injury were analyzed. Results The levels of HMGB1 and S100B in the injury group were significantly higher than those in the non-injury group(P<0.05).The levels of HMGB1 and S100B in patients with different ASIA grades was grade A>grade B>grade C>grade D(P<0.05).The areas under curve(AUC)of HMGB1,S100B and combined detection in the diagnosis of spinal fracture and spinal cord injury were 0.967,0.874 and 0.980,respectively.There were significant differences in World Health Organization Quality of Life Measurement Scale Brief Version(WHOQOL-BREF)score among spinal fracture and spinal cord injury patients with different personal care, complications, medical treatment after discharge, nature of injury and chronic pain(P<0.05).Multivariate linear regression analysis results showed that complications and chronic pain were the influencing factors of postoperative quality of life in patients with spinal fracture and spinal cord injury(P<0.05).Conclusion The HMGB1 and S100B can reflect the severity of patients with spinal fracture and spinal cord injury, and complications and chronic pain are important influencing factors of their postoperative quality of life.
