Analysis of the effect of methylprednisolone in the treatment of severe pneumonia in children and its influencing factors
Objective To investigate the effect of methylprednisolone in the treatment of severe pneumonia in children and its influencing factors. Methods A total of 126 children with severe pneumonia admitted in our hospital from January 2020 to December 2023 were selected as the study objects. All children were treated with comprehensive treatment and methylprednisolone. After treatment, the children were grouped according to their efficacy. The general data of the children in effective treatment group and ineffective treatment group were compared, and the multivariate Logistic regression analysis was used to explore the influencing factors of the efficacy of children with severe pneumonia. Results After treatment with methylprednisolone in 126 children with severe pneumonia,65 cases were markedly effective,40 cases were effective, and 21 cases were ineffective. The total effective rate of treatment was 83.33%,and the ineffective rate was 16.67%.There were statistically significant differences in age, course of disease, nasal catheter oxygen inhalation or oxygen therapy time, central nervous system abnormalities, nutritional anemia,C-reactive protein(CRP),interleukin-6(IL-6)and procalcitonin(PCT)levels between the effective treatment group and the ineffective treatment group(P<0.05).Multivariate Logistic regression analysis result showed that age≤2 years old, course of disease>14 d,nasal catheter oxygen inhalation or oxygen therapy time≥48 h,central nervous system abnormality, nutritional anemia,CRP≥10 mg/L,IL-6≥6.6 pg/mL,PCT≥0.5 ng/mL were independent risk factors affecting the efficacy of children with severe pneumonia(P<0.05).Conclusion There are many factors affecting the effect of methylprednisolone in the treatment of severe pneumonia in children.Age,course of disease, nasal catheter oxygen inhalation or oxygen therapy time and so on are independent risk factors.Clinical treatment of severe pneumonia in children should be based on the influencing factors.Targeted intervention, active prevention of related controllable risk factors,to ensure the therapeutic effect.
