Effect of wearing orthokeratology lens on binocular visual function in children and adolescents with primary monocular myopia
Objective To study the effect of wearing orthokeratology lens on binocular visual function in children and adolescents with primary monocular myopia. Methods A total of 80 children with primary monocular myopia admitted in the Xi'an Fourth Hospital from January 2022 to January 2023 were selected as the research objects. All patients wore orthokeratology lens, and the visual function of myopic eyes and healthy eyes were compared before wearing and after 1,3,6,9 and 12 months after wearing. Results After 1,3,6,9 and 12 months of wearing, the accommodation amplitude, accommodation sensitivity, accommodation response, positive relative accommodation and negative relative accommodation of myopic eyes in children with primary monocular myopia were higher than those before wearing, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).After 1,3,6,9 and 12 months of wearing, the convergence and divergence flexibility and near point convergence of myopic eyes in children with primary monocular myopia were higher than those before wearing, the accommodation convergence/accommodation(AC/A)of myopic eyes was lower than that before wearing, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).After 1,3,6,9 and 12 months of wearing, there were no significant differences in the accommodation amplitude, positive relative accommodation and negative relative accommodation of healthy eyes in children with primary monocular myopia compared with those before wearing(P>0.05);after 3,6,9 and 12 months of wearing, the accommodative sensitivity and accommodative response of healthy eyes in children with primary monocular myopia were higher than those before wearing, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).After 1,3,6,9 and 12 months of wearing, the convergence and divergence flexibility of healthy eyes in children with primary monocular myopia was higher than that before wearing, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05);after 1,3,6,9 and 12 months of wearing, there were no significant differences in the near point convergence and AC/A of healthy eyes in children with primary monocular myopia compared with those before wearing(P>0.05).Conclusion Wearing orthokeratology lens can significantly improve the visual function of myopia eye in children and adolescents with primary monocular myopia, and improve the accommodative sensitivity, accommodative response and convergence and divergence flexibility of the healthy eye.
