Effects of cold compress combined with tranexamic acid on local swelling, pain degree and inflammatory factors levels in patients after total knee arthroplasty
Objective To investigate the effects of cold compress combined with tranexamic acid on local swelling, pain degree and inflammatory factors levels in patients after total knee arthroplasty. Methods A total of 100 patients after total knee arthroplasty admitted from December 2021 to December 2022 were selected as the research objects. The patients were divided into control group and observation group by random number table method, with 50 cases in each group. The control group was treated with intravenous infusion of tranexamic acid before operation, and the observation group was treated with intra-articular infusion of tranexamic acid when the incision was closed and cold compress on the basis of the control group. The therapeutic effects of the two groups were compared. Results At 1,3 and 7 d after operation, the circumference difference between the two strands in the observation group was smaller than that in the control group(P<0.05).At 1 and 3 d after operation, the scores of Passive Visual Analogue Scale(PVAS)and Rest Visual Analogue Scale(RVAS)in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).At 1 and 3 d after operation, the levels of interleukin-6(IL-6),tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)and C-reactive protein(CPR)in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).Conclusion Cold compress combined with tranexamic acid can not only quickly reduce the degree of local swelling and pain degree in patients after total knee arthroplasty, but also inhibit the levels of inflammatory factors and promote postoperative recovery, which is worthy of promotion.
