Correlation analysis of GFAP and HIF-1α expression with disease activity and gut microbiota in patients with ulcerative colitis
Objective To analyze the correlation of glial fibrillary acidic protein(GFAP)and hypoxia inducible factor-1α(HIF-1α)expression with disease activity and gut microbiota in patients with ulcerative colitis. Methods A total of 80 patients with ulcerative colitis admitted in our hospital from January 2022 to January 2023 were selected as observation group, and 80 patients with normal physical examination during the same period were selected as control group. The disease activity of the observation group was evaluated by Mayo score, which was divided into mild activity, moderate activity and severe activity. The levels of GFAP and HIF-1α and the distribution of gut microbiota in the observation group and the control group and the observation group with different disease activity were measured and compared, and the correlation between GFAP and HIF-1 α and the distribution of gut microbiota and disease activity was analyzed. Results The levels of GFAP and HIF-1α in the observation group were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).The Lactobacillus,Bifidobacterium,Bacteroides and Clostridium butyricum in the observation group were less than those in the control group(P<0.05).The Lactobacillus,Bifidobacterium,Bacteroides and Clostridium butyricum in patients with mild activity were more than those in patients with moderate activity and severe activity, and the Lactobacillus,Bifidobacterium,Bacteroides and Clostridium butyricum in patients with moderate activity were more than those in patients with severe activity(P<0.05).The levels of GFAP and HIF-1α in patients with mild activity were lower than those in patients with moderate activity and severe activity, and the levels of GFAP and HIF-1α in patients with moderate activity were lower than those in patients with severe activity(P<0.05).Pearson correlation analysis results showed that GFAP and HIF-1α were negatively correlated with Lactobacillus,Bifidobacterium,Bacteroides and Clostridium butyricum(P<0.05);Spearman rank correlation analysis results showed that GFAP and HIF-1α were positively correlated with disease activity(P<0.05).Conclusion GFAP and HIF-1α are involved in the occurrence and development of ulcerative colitis, which are positively correlated with disease activity and negatively correlated with intestinal beneficial bacteria.
