Effects of traditional Chinese medicine fumigation combined with sodium hyaluronate eye drops on break-up time and quality of life in patients with dry eye after cataract surgery
Objective To investigate the effects of traditional Chinese medicine fumigation combined with sodium hyaluronate eye drops on breakup time of tear film(BUT)and quality of life in patients with dry eye after cataract surgery.Methods A total of 120 patients with dry eye after cataract surgery admitted in the Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital of Jinhu County from January 2018 to January 2023 were selected as the research objects,and the patients were divided into control group and observation group by random number table method,with 60 cases in each group.The control group was given sodium hyaluronate eye drops,and the observation group was treated with traditional Chinese medicine fumigation on the basis of the control group.The therapeutic effects of the two groups were compared.Results The total effective rate of treatment in the observation group was 96.67％,which was higher than 86.67％in the control group(P＜0.05).Before treatment,there were no significant differences in the scores of ocular surface signs and sensory symptoms between the two groups(P＞0.05);after treatment,the scores of ocular surface signs and sensory symptoms in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P＜0.05).Before treatment,there were no significant differences in the BUT,schirmer Ⅰ test(SⅠT)and the 36-Item Short Form Health Survey(SF-36)score between the two groups(P＞0.05);after treatment,the BUT and SⅠT in the observation group were longer than those in the control group,and the score of SF-36 was higher than that in the control group(P＜0.05).There was no significant difference in the total incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P＞0.05).Conclusion Traditional Chinese medicine fumigation combined with sodium hyaluronate eye drops is effective in the treatment of dry eye after cataract surgery.It can improve the clinical symptoms of patients,prolong BUT,elevate the quality of life,and will not increase adverse reactions.
