Clinical effect of breast conserving surgery and modified radical mastectomy in the treatment of breast cancer patients and its influences on the occurrence of complications and quality of life
Objective To investigate the clinical effect of breast conserving surgery and modified radical mastectomy in the treatment of breast cancer patients and its influences on the occurrence of complications and quality of life. Methods A total of 80 patients with breast cancer admitted in Nantong Tongzhou People's Hospital from June 2019 to January 2024 were selected as the research objects.According to the lottery method, the patients were divided into traditional group and breast conserving group, with 40 cases in each group. The traditional group received modified radical mastectomy, the breast conserving group received breast conserving surgery. The clinical related indicators, postoperative breast appearance aesthetics, postoperative complications, quality of life, survival rate, local recurrence rate and distant metastasis rate were compared between the two groups. Results The operation time and hospitalization time of the breast conserving group were shorter than those of the traditional group, and the intraoperative blood loss and postoperative drainage volume were less than those of the traditional group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).The excellent and good rate of postoperative breast appearance in the breast conserving group was higher than that in the traditional group(P<0.05).The total incidence of postoperative complications in the breast conserving group was lower than that in the traditional group(P<0.05).After operation, the scores of physiological function, environment, independence, social relationship, spirit and psychological state in the breast conserving group were higher than those in the traditional group, and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).There were no significant differences in survival rate, local recurrence rate and distant metastasis rate between the two groups at half year after operation(P>0.05).Conclusion Compared with modified radical mastectomy, breast conserving surgery has less trauma and fewer postoperative complications, which can improve the aesthetics and integrity of breast tissue and enhance the quality of life of patients.
