With the continuous population aging process,cognitive impairment,and dementia are becoming a very challenging public health problem in China and all over the world.In recent years,both epidemiological and labora-tory studies have suggested that sleep is closely related to cognitive function and pathological changes in dementia,and timely and effective intervention can improve the cognitive function of the elderly and alleviate the occurrence and devel-opment of dementia.Due to multiple dimensions of sleep evaluation,the associations between sleep and cognitive impair-ment are far from clear.Many scholars at home and abroad have studied the relationship between many aspects of sleep and dementia,including sleep duration and sleep disorders.However,there is still a lack of relevant studies in China.The purpose of this article is to review the relationship between sleep and dementia and to provide a basis for delaying the occurrence and progression of dementia.
