Objective To explore the mediating effect of fatigue symptoms on sleep quality and general well-being in older adults. Methods A total of 416 older adults from 3 nursing homes in Beijing and Zhumadian were recrui-ted using convenience sampling from December 2020 to June 2022.The Pittsburgh sleep quality index(PSQI),revised Piper Fatigue Scale(RPFS),and general well being scale(GWB)were used as measurements. The AMOS 24.0 statis-tical software was used to analyze the mediating effect. Results The scales of sleep status were significantly positively correlated with fatigue(r=0.367,P<0.01)and negatively correlated with general well being(r=-0.401,P<0.001).Besides,fatigue was negatively correlated with general well being(r=-0.621,P<0.001).Fatigue symptom played a partial mediating role on sleep quality and geeral well-being,accounting for 24.5%of the total effect.Conclu-sions Fatigue symptom is a mediating variable between sleep quality and general well-being in older people.Sleep quality not only can influence general well-being directly, but also the happiness through the mediating variable fatigue symptoms indirectly.
