Objective To investigate serum fibrinogen 3(Ficolin-3),cystatin C(Cys C)and Semaphorin 3A(Semaphorin 3A)levels and their correlation with the degree of carotid atherosclerosis in elderly patients with hyperten-sion.Method One hundred and twenty elderly patients with hypertension admitted to the Medical Community of Linhai Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital from May 2021 to May 2023 were retrospectively selected as hypertension group.According to the degree of carotid atherosclerosis,they were divided into normal carotid intimedia thickness(IMT)group(n=37),IMT thickened group(n=40)and carotid plaque formation group(n=43).A total of 152 healthy eld-erly patients without hypertension were selected as control group.Serum Ficolin-3,Cys C,Semaphorin 3A levels were compared between hypertension group,control group and patients with different degrees of carotid atherosclerosis.Spearman method was used to analyze the correlation between serum Ficolin-3,Cys C,Semaphorin 3A levels and the de-gree of carotid atherosclerosis in elderly patients with hypertension.The diagnostic value of serum Ficolin-3,Cys C,Semaphorin 3A levels alone and combined with receiver operating characteristic curve(ROC)was analyzed.Results Serum Ficolin-3 and Semaphorin 3A levels in hypertension group were significantly lower than those in control group,but Cys C levels were significantly higher than those in control group(P＜0.05).Serum Ficolin-3 and Semaphorin 3A lev-els in carotid artery plaque formation group were significantly lower than those in IMT thickening group and normal IMT group,and those in IMT thickening group were lower than those in normal IMT group(P＜0.05).The serum Cys C lev-el in carotid artery plaque formation group was significantly higher than that in IMT thickening group and IMT normal group,and that in IMT thickening group was higher than that in IMT normal group(P＜0.05).Spearman correlation a-nalysis showed that serum Ficolin-3 and Semaphorin 3A levels were negatively correlated with carotid atherosclerosis course in elderly patients with hypertension(r=-0.429,r=-0.452,P＜0.05);Cys C level was positively correlated with carotid atherosclerosis course(r=0.829,P＜0.05).Conclusions Serum levels of Ficolin-3 and Semaphorin 3A were low in elderly patients with hypertension,which were negatively correlated with the degree of carotid atherosclero-sis.The high expression of Cys C was positively correlated with the degree of carotid atherosclerosis.
