Objective To analyze plasma homocysteine(Hey)level of patients with atherosclerosis and its re-bationship with atherosclerosis middle aged and elderly patients. Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on the medical records of 438 patients aged 45-65 who underwent physical examinations or were admitted to the General Hospital of the Northern Theater Command from August 2019 to July 2020.According to the results of the intima media thickness(IMT)of the carotid artery, the patients were divided into the normal endometrial group(Group A),IMT<1.0 mm,148 cases),endometrial thickening group(Group B,1.0 mm≤IMT<1.3 mm,141 cases)and endometrial plaque formation group(Group C,IMT≥1.3 mm or plaque formation,149 cases). The general information, morbidity, lipid metabolism index and plasma Hey level among the three groups were analyzed and compared, and the correlation between plasma Hey level and atherosclerosis was analyzed. Results The plasma Hey levels in Group A were lower than that in Group B and Group C,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The plasma Hey level in Group B were lower than that in Group C,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Plasma Hcylevel was cor-related with the degree of atherosclerosis(r=0.326,P<0.05).The resultof binary logistic regression analysis showed that plasma Hey levels and age were risk factors for atherosclerosis;high-density lipoproteinlevels was a protect factor for atherosclerosis;plasma Hey level was an independent risk factor for atherosclerosis(P<0.05,OR=1.155,95%CI:1.071-1.244).Conclusions Plasma Hey level is an independent risk factor for atherosclerosis.Timely monitoring and early intervention for people with high plasma Hcy level will help prevent and delay atherosclerosis.
