Analysis of influencing factors on postoperative internal fixation failure of stable intertrochanteric fractures treated with intramedullary nails:a retrospective cohort study
Objective To explore the influencing factors of postoperative internal fixation failure in the treat-ment of stable intertrochanteric fractures with intramedullary nails. Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted on the medical records of 187 patients with stable intertrochanteric fractures who underwent intramedullary nail implantation surgery at a Beijing hospital from January 2010 to May 2024.The demographic information of patients, fracture related medical history, perioperative data, and relevant indicators in postoperative imaging were included as research factors, and hip joint imaging data at least 3 months after surgery as the basis for determining the failure of internal fixation.Simple correlation analysis and binary logistic regression were used to analyse, screen and confire these factors. Results Among the 187 patients followed up for 3 months after surgery,7 patients experienced internal fixation failure, with an internal fixation failure rate of approximately 3.74%.There was a significant statistical correlation(P<0.05)between AO classification, apex distance(TAD),and follow-up outcomes. Conclusion AO classification and TAD may be influencing factors on the failure rate of internal fixation after intramedullary nail treatment for stable intertrochanteric fractures of the femur.
