Objective Based on Citespace,the research status,hot spots and trends of acupuncture in the treat-ment of hemifacial spasm were explored,so as to provide reference for further research of acupuncture in the treatment of hemifacial spasm.Methods The literatures related to acupuncture treatment of hemifacial spasm in the past 20 years was visually analyzed,including the overall measurement of literature,core authors,source institutions and topic hot spots co-occurrence and clustering,etc.CiteSpace software was used to statistically analyze the literature related to acupuncture treatment of hemifacial spasm.Results A total of 622 literatures were included,11 of which were in English.The medi-an values of all authors and institutions were 0."Facial spasms""acupuncture""acupuncture therapy""cupping"and"fire",the"swollen thorn method""thermal moxibustion",for high frequency words such as"shallow sting therapy".The emergent intensity of"intradermal acupuncture"and"combination of acupuncture and medicine"was the highest,which were 5.77 and 4.15,respectively.By clustering the key words,a total of 20 clusters were obtained,including dis-ease cluster and acupuncture treatment cluster.Conclusions Acupuncture in the treatment of hemifacial spasm has a good clinical effect,but less cooperation among related researchers and institutions,and there is a lack of core research team.The research focuses on acupuncture treatment of facial spasm,acupuncture method,point selection rules and other complementary therapies,etc.
